Bacon Bit recovery fund

A few weeks ago, I found a kitten outside my house and decided to try and keep her because she was super sweet and seemingly in good health. Many shelters in the area are also pretty overwhelmed right now. She had a ton of energy, just a pretty bad flea problem at the time. After calling someone that works with rescues, I received a flea/tick medication and the first half of a dewormer the day I found her, and the next day she was neutered at PAWS. She was fine over the course of a few days, but took a bit of a turn and started having some GI issues. She was taken to a vet after she stopped eating and drinking and was continuously vomiting/having diarrhea. After receiving treatment at the vet and some continued treatment at home, she seemed to make a full recovery. She was eating and drinking regularly, she was full of life, and she was starting to get along with our other two cats better. I had a followup appointment with her vet on wednesday (8/16) afternoon, but when I checked on her that morning she was laying on the floor and completely unable to stand on her own. I took her to the emergency vet at Penn immediately and admitted her for treatment. So far, she’s received a blood transfusion and has had minimal testing done due to her size and condition. They found a parasite in a fecal sample yesterday, and she’s currently being treated for that and a fever that we’re hoping is only a result of her transfusion. Despite her current prognosis being poor, she has still improved a lot given wednesday morning, and we finally have somewhere to start with the discovery of the parasite. As long as it seems her quality of life will improve, we plan to continue her treatment and care. This is a sudden and colossal financial undertaking that my partner and I could never have imagined when we first found her, but it doesn’t feel right to abandon her now. Please consider donating and sharing to help us continue her care. I’ll be posting regular updates from the vet as I receive them. Thank you for reading.❣️
