Backing the Morrows
As some of you may already know, earlier this month Danielle Morrow had an MRI and CT scan that showed a mass on her spinal cord. This mass is now labeled as a schwannoma tumor. It has compressed her spinal nerves and is causing numbness and weakness in her legs. She was immediately directed to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO where they are getting her in urgently to prevent any further damage or growth of the tumor. Since it has already caused numbness/loss of feeling in her legs, it is best to get it removed sooner rather than later. This has all happened so fast and it's been a lot to take in all at once, but unfortunately this surgery doesn't come without risks, nor is it a simple one. This is a very serious and major procedure and it is not elective. Danielle will be admitted at Barnes starting July 25th, and after some further testing, she will then go for surgery around mid week.
While Danielle is in the hospital, Jeremy will be taking off work to be with her. However, due to COVID-19 regulations, he is not permitted to stay in the hospital with her. So, he will have to stay at a hotel not far from the hospital and is then allowed to visit only during the hospital's allotted visiting hours. While he is off, he will also not be receiving any pay, and since he is the main source of income for their large family, this is going to put them in a tight spot. Danielle needs Jeremy to be with her so he will know how to care for her and how to prepare and assist with her recovery once she is able to come home.
Danielle is one of the most selfless and loving people we have ever met. She always has a smile on, no matter how terrible or stressful her day has been. Her kids, although they make her crazy, are the absolute lights of her life and being away from them this long is going to not only be tough on her, but on them as well. Danielle will no doubt handle whatever is thrown at her to the best of her abilities--she's tougher than she even knows that she is and we have no doubts that she will come out of this with flying colors. She wears her heart on her sleeve and we know that this is weighing heavily on her to have to rely on so many other people to take care of everything while she is down, so we just keep reminding her that this is what friends are for. We can't wait to see her smile and hear that infectious laugh again once this is all over!
We are asking for donations for lost wages, hotel stays, food, and travel expenses that Jeremy and Danielle will incur while at Barnes. This will also help offset the expenses that are still at home for when they return, and any amount will help. If you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser. We ask that everyone please pray for Danielle, for the surgeons and doctors overseeing her surgery and care, and for their kids who are going to miss their mama terribly while she's away!
