Backing the Blount Family

Update:

On February 18th, 2023 Gavin’s fight came to a end. He passed in his home surrounded by the people who love him the most. We will continue to use this GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses. Thank you all so much for the love and support

Just a few days after Gavin passed , on February 24th Bryson went for routine blood work and we found out his leukemia was back. He has been admitted at CHOP since then. Dad and I take turns staying with Bryson and being home with Zoey.

Hi My name is Dajia Blount and I’m a mom to two warriors. Here’s my story of the longest fastest 4 months of my life..

Oct 2 I took my oldest son ( Gavin 5y) to the ER for neck pain and crossed eyes.. They found a tumor on the right part of his brain that was pushing a his temporal lobe. 98% of it was removed Oct 8. He then developed hydrocephalus, ETV was done on Oct 15. The oncologist let us know Oct 22 that it was a high grade glioma and he would need to do radiation. He then had an MRI done to check that the ETV was still working on Oct 29, but they discovered about 20% of the tumor had grown back and was now in his ventricle. His original neurologist said he would not remove it, so we took him to Children’s National in DC. Nov 8th they removed all of his regrown tumor. Our genetic counselor let us know Nov 19 that he had CMMRD.. she gave us the option to get the rest of us tested. We got everyone tested. Our son started his 5 days a week radiation Nov 29. We spent all December waiting for our test to come back.. Jan 5 we learned my husband, our daughter( Zoey 10months) , and myself have Lynch syndrome but our other son (Bryson 3y) also has CMMRD. The beginning of Jan Bryson started getting long nose bleeds, dark bruises, very fatigued, not eating so we made him an appointment with Gavin’s oncologist. But things started getting worse so Jan 16th we took Bryson to the ER. He’s platelets and blood count came back extremely low and white blood cells very high, so he was admitted. Jan 17th he was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. Today (Jan18th) he got a bone marrow biopsy, lumbar procedure, and a port placed during his first Chemo treatment. Doctors say everything went great!

I’ve always been a stay at home mom who babysat/ did childcare to help my family financially but with COVID and our kids immune system I haven’t felt safe doing so. Then with my husband (Jordan) being in the Navy and us stationed 5 hours from family getting a job would be impossibly hard… With the increased doctors visits and possible in hospital stays , we’re having to crunch numbers and create budgets for our family. Any financial help / support would be greatly appreciated!!
