Back Zach Getson's Last Maccabi USA Rugby Journey

Hi, my name is Zach Getson. I've been playing rugby for over 16 years. I have been selected to represent the USA in the Maccabiah Games for the third and final time.
I want your support to get me there, helping me play on the world stage and bring home a gold medal.
That's the short story. But if you'd like the whole story - feel free to keep reading.
The Maccabiah Games is the third-largest sporting event in the world. It is essentially the Jewish Olympics. And like the Olympics, athletes from around the globe seek sponsorship and support to represent their country.
When I first heard about the Maccabi games in 2012, I was 19 and recently recovered from my first knee surgery. Out of shape, I didn't make the squad. In 2015, I traveled to Chile for the Pan-American Games ... where I subsequently tore my ACL for the third time. On New Year's Eve, nonetheless.
I took three ACL surgeries as a sign, and I retired from the game. At least, that's what I told myself. Watching my brothers win the gold in 2017, without me, was a wake-up call. So, I picked back up the sport and joined the Dallas Harlequins in 2018. In 2022, I was one of the first 7 players selected to the side. It was a full-circle moment. Unfortunately, we didn't get the results I was looking for. I could blame COVID and injuries, but that wouldn't have mattered if we were better.
Now in my 30s, I'm President of the Dallas Harlequins, playing for our Premier and second sides, and helping behind the scenes with Maccabi USA Rugby. I've taken on more responsibility and more toll on my body and feel better than ever. It feels good to tell you that I've been playing the best rugby of my career. I feel fit. I feel strong. I'm more ready than ever to compete at this level.
I don't know how much rugby I have left in my body, but I do know I will push my limits and leave it all on the field this summer.
Your support will help me afford this fantastic opportunity and continue to tell my rugby story to the best of my ability.
It means the world. Thank you.
