Help Fund the BungaFun Phob Drive — Reliable, Affordable Controllers for Utah Melee Players!
About the Project
The Bungafun Phob Project is a community-driven effort aiming to build 30 high-performance, tournament-ready GameCube controllers for the Utah Super Smash Bros. Melee community, utilizing Phob motherboards and quality mods to improve consistency and affordability. Thanks to Utah donors, dozens of controllers have been generously donated to help bring this effort to life.
Originally planned as an OEM rebuild project, feedback led us to focus on a Phob-based build to keep costs accessible. The intended features include:
- Calibrated Phob PCBs
- Paracorded cables for durability and style
- Stickbox spring mods for improved control feel
- Lubricated stickboxes and triggers
- Firefox/wavedash notches
The goal is to provide affordable, modded controllers to players of all skill levels while fostering community growth and sustainability.
Why We Need Your Help
To complete the project, funding is needed to acquire bulk parts like stickboxes, cables, springs, and other materials, as well as cover shipping and workspace expenses. While local donations and sales have helped, additional support will help ensure the project’s success.
Estimated cost per controller build is about $45, aiming to keep these controllers accessible to Utah players. If this fundraiser meets its goal, controllers will be provided to players free of charge.

Transparent Use of Funds:
Once we reach our funding goal, all donation collection will pause. Any extra funds raised beyond the goal will be reinvested directly into the community—covering supplies, future controller projects, and other essential costs. Your support goes straight toward strengthening Utah’s Melee scene.
