For the past ten years we have been missionaries in the southern part of the Philippines. Out of Cagayan de Oro Philippines we have raised our children and served the people training and supporting leadership for the church. During our years in Mindanao we established a bible school Streams of Living Waters and raised up leadership to take the mantel of responsibility for the school. In this time have lived by faith. After ten years the government says we need to go home.
Many months ago we began to make preparations for this transition back to the US. We believed we had everything in place and began sending back items that were important to our memories of life. We purchased our first set of tickets which would have had us in the US on April 27th.
As we all know COVID-19 happened and our tickets were cancelled. Due to the airline those tickets are non refundable. And now Air Canada is planning to file bankruptcy. We will never get that back. Please keep in mind we live by faith we do not keep large back accounts we have employees to pay for the work of the ministry.
We purchased a second round of tickets which cost more than the first and we were slated to fly our of Manila on the 17th of May. Two days prior to this happening we got a message that the flight from Cagayan to Manila was canceled and Cebu Pacific is grounded until June.
Now we are hoping for what they call a sweeper flight to get back to the US this would either take place on the 21 or 26th of may and cost approximately $2225 per person with four of us in the family it would be nearly $9000 all said. We simply to not have this kind of money lying around.
It is not a lack of faith or a means to circumvent God in the process that we ask for help. We fully rely on God but appreciate the love expressed through others and their help. We are currently camped out in a room of our house while the family who is to move is begins to move in. We have no furniture beds or anything we are camping and with no hotels or true reservation we are waiting for the answers God has.
Thank you for reading our story and praying and helping
God Bless,
Grace Wick
