My name is Andrea Akins-Lee and I'm a Junior Nursing Student at Penn State University. I'm raising money for my trip to Cape Town, South Africa this summer June 2nd-June 15th with an organization called One Heart Source. The money raised will go toward the program fee of 3,000 dollars. The fee allows for the organization to support my internship by providing food, clean drinking water, and furnished accommodations. It also goes towards my mentor supplies I will need throughout the trip, my arranged transportation from the airport to the program location, transportation within program location activities, 24-hour on-call support in the event of a health emergency, and a cell phone with domestic and international capabiltity. The rest of the money will be put towards my airfare and travel insurance. I will need these funds by May of 2017. This means so much to me because One Heart Source has a mission of eliminating the gap between those who have access to better their lives and those who do not, and I want to be apart of that mission. I would be very thankful for this money because it would take the financial burden off of my single mother, who is currently putting me thru college. This is for a good cause! It is volunteer based and nonprofit, and for 2 weeks I'll be working alongside elementary school-aged children that are in high need of quality education. As a student nurse, my goal is to spread the word, and to provide others the knowledge that I am privileged enough to afford to be taught in my course of study.
