Back surgery for Cameron!

On July 13, 1998 Cameron Richardson (formerly Cameron Dyck) ended up in a serious car accident, where the car flipped over and landed upside down on a 6-foot boulder. This accident left him with a serious back injury that has plagued him for the last 20 years. Coupled with that, Cameron endured a second severe vehicle collision which complicated his issues even more.
The pain became unbearable and limited Cameron’s ability to maintain steady work, even with the aid and attempts of many doctors and specialists (physiotherapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage, cranial sacral and any other treatment that people suggested). Over the past 4 years Cameron has turned to a procedure where, annually, they burn the nerve endings around his spine. This painful procedure, combined with maximum levels of opioids and a cocktail of other drugs to level him out, allows Cameron to get through the days. The medications range from $300-1300 each month after health coverage and are obviously not a good long-term solution.
Finally, there is hope for recovery. Cameron has been approved for surgery as early as the beginning of July in Germany. The disc replacement in his lower spine is highly likely to restore function and relieve pain in his back. This surgery is not available in Canada. The cost is immense, but necessary for Cam’s future.
