My name is Ashley Derieux, I am 32 years old. On February 19 of 2021 I had a lumbar surgery (laminectomy and discectomy with decompression of the spine). I suffered several complications, among them. I had a spinal fluid leak which was detected and repaired at the time of surgery, but this made my stay longer. I spend over three weeks in a rehabilitation center in TX. I have a Paraplegia Incomplete and in some organs such as the bladder and intestines. I also have severe spinal cord damage which causes extreme pain, loss of control of my right foot (drop foot) and constant involuntary movements. The copays and deductibles for this process have been much higher than expected due to all complications (+$60,000) . I have outstanding debts with the hospital where the surgery performed, the company that provided the neuromonitor used for monitoring my nerve system during surgery, the medical equipment company, the rehabilitation center, among other things. Since I had only been in my job for a short time, I was forced to quit my job because ”they do not have any reasonable accommodations for me” . For this reason I am requesting your help to be able to defray these expenses and what I still need for my recovery.

Including a Electronic Scooter to feel independent again and other medical Supplies that my insurance doesn’t cover.

Mi nombre es Ashley Derieux, tengo 32 años. El 19 de  febrero del 2021 me realizaron una cirugía en el área lumbar (laminectomía y discectomía con descompresión de la columna). La misma tuvo varias

 complicaciones, entre ellas tuve liqueo de fluido espinal el cual se pudo detectar y reparar al momento de la cirugía, pero esto hizo que mi estadía se prolongara. Estuve alrededor de tres semanas recluida en un centro de rehabilitación en Texas,  tengo Paraplegia Incompleta y disfunción algunos órganos como vejiga e intestinos. También tengo daño severo en el cordón espinal lo cual me produce dolor extremo, pérdida del control de mi pie derecho (drop foot) y movimientos involuntarios constantes. Los copagos y deducibles de este proceso han sido mucho más de lo esperado debido a las complicaciones (+$60,000). Tengo deudas pendientes con el hospital que me operó, la compañía que proveyó el neuromonitor utilizado solo para monitorear mi sistema nervioso durante cirugía, la compañía de equipos médicos, el centro de rehabilitación, entre otras cosas. Como llevaba poco tiempo en mi trabajo me forzaron a renunciar ya que “ no tenían un acomodo razonable para mi”  Por tal motivo estoy solicitando su ayuda para poder sufragar dichos gastos, y lo que aún necesito para mi recuperación. Incluyendo una Scooter Eléctrica para yo poder moverme y tener devuelta mi independencia y otros equipos medicos.
