Back Rent Help To Move Closer To My Future

Donation protected
Hello My name is Nicole Royster and I am a full time Graduate student at The University of Southern California .I also live with and help take care of my mother who is retired and 70 years old.I am trying to raise funds to help pay our back rent for the months of April,May,June ,July at our current apartment and money to put towards the deposit for a new apartment in Los Angeles.Me and my mom have always been on a fixed income, she being retired and me being a first generation graduate student but our finances took a huge hit when COVID-19 sent everyone into lockdown .Because the lockdown occurred in the middle of my second semester at USC in march,I had to upgrade my technology and living space immediately to accommodate online classes through the Zoom platform. This, in addition to the inflation of prices in food, transportation and living expenses caused us to be short in rent for a few months.

We are also in the process of locating and moving to a 2 bedroom apartment in Los Angeles, closer to USC because we currently live in a one bedroom apartment in Long Beach and I had to commute to and from USC everyday my first and second semester on the train. Because of the nature of my program of study (MFA Acting ,class of 2022!)We have program requirements that must be fulfilled at night(Crewing and/or acting in shows on campus)and that is a long ,scary train ride from USC to Long Beach at 10:30 pm ,sometimes,I don't get home until 1:00am. Even though we are still in lockdown and have a modified schedule for our Fall 2020 semester, we will still be on campus working everyday so a move closer to campus is still a must,Plus in a bigger apartment,I can do my work on Zoom without taking up my mom's space.

The money requested would be used to pay for back rent at our current apartment complex in Long Beach for the months of April,May,June and July which is $1500 so that we won't be delinquent and can move without an adverse rental history and $1500 to go towards a deposit for a new place in Los Angeles near USC.I know this is a hard time for everyone, with the pandemic still going on but anything would be greatly, deeply appreciated and welcomed. In my work as an artist,I hope to inspire hope, trust in change and trust in self and this move and clearing our charges would move me forward in that direction.
