We’re Adolfo and Vincent, partners in life and business, and the founders of Mijo Candle Co., a Chicano and gay-owned candle brand built from the ground up with love, grit, and culture.
Growing up wasn’t easy. We both faced challenges that could have broken us, but instead, they lit a fire in us. We’ve worked hard to heal, to grow, and to dream bigger. Now, we’re turning one of those dreams into reality: opening our first candle bar and retail space in the heart of Indio, California.
But this isn’t just about us. This is for our community, for families, creatives, outsiders, locals, and everyone in between. Our candle bar will be a warm, inclusive space where people can come to connect, create, and celebrate.
Guests will be able to host private candle-making parties, perfect for birthdays, bachelorettes, team-building, or just a night out with friends.
We’ll offer weekly creative projects like heart-shaped wax melts, bath bombs, seasonal scents, and more. It'll be a retail space where you can purchase our candle line, along with other queer, women and bipoc vendors.
And most importantly, it will be a safe space. A place to be yourself, to learn new skills, and to feel seen.
As a queer, brown-owned business, representation matters to us deeply. We want this space to stand as proof that no matter where you come from, your story and your dreams matter. With your support, we can bring this space to life and share the light with others.
Every dollar helps us bring our candle bar to life! Your support will help cover:
Build-Out & Renovations: Creating a warm, welcoming space that reflects our 70s-inspired, Chicano roots.
Workshop Supplies: Wax, wicks, fragrance oils, vessels, tools, and materials for weekly projects like wax melts and bath bombs.
Furniture & Decor: Tables, chairs, shelving, and display pieces to host private parties and walk-in guests in comfort.
Licensing & Permits: Making everything official, legal, and ready to welcome the public.
Inventory: Stocking our shelves with our handmade candles and curated goods from other queer, BIPOC, and woman-owned makers.
Marketing & Signage: Getting the word out so we can reach our community and invite them in.
Your donation helps create a space where culture, creativity, and community come together, and we can’t thank you enough for being part of this dream.
Thank you for helping us build something beautiful.
Adolfo & Vincent
