Hi! We are John Stavens and Wendy Adams, and we are the advisors for the Bristol Eastern Model United Nations Club. Our club has been active for several years, and one of our goals is to attend the International Model U.N. Conference in NYC in March 2026. At the conference, the students will have an opportunity to debate topics that relate to issues faced by countries around the world. In preparation for the conference, the students write research papers and prepare for their debate sessions. This conference is like no other offered around Bristol. Students from all over the world come to compete with other schools to have their issue papers moved forward to be voted on as resolutions.

The funds will be used to help pay for our costs associated with the trip. This will be our fourth trip to the Model UN Conference. The club has gained popularity in our school since our first trip-- with many students excitedly telling others about their own experience. For the first time, there is even a course being offered to help students prepare for participating in Model UN and learning about international relationships and diplomacy.

Last year's experience was monumental for this group; they got to meet students from all over the world and participate in diplomatic debate to solve world issues. Many students have called the experience "life changing", and some have even decided to focus their collegial studies in international relationships and politics as a result of their experience.

Registration and hotel costs for 20 students are a little over $12,000. The students we are taking during the 2025-2026 school year are committed to fundraising and attending the conference this year because of the experience they had heard so many of their peers share, so every donation really will help these students have another life-changing experience. For many of our students, this will be their first time staying in NY and experiencing the city and travel away from home as well. Thank you so much for your continued support!
