WHAT IS FACT? WHAT IS FICTION?

APPREHENSION is a micro-budget short horror film about the day in the life of a young man who is plagued by terrifying visions and entities. Receiving almost no support from the few people in his life, he must withstand these experiences alone while his dwindling mental health is slowly destroyed.

MEET THE CAST

RICHARD JONES (Marcus)

Richard Jones will be playing Marcus, a young man diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. Ever since he was a little boy, he has struggled with terrifying visions that plague him, and only him. Richard Jones is an up and coming actor that has a true passion for the craft, and was hand picked for this role.

NICK ANTHONY (Theo)

Nick will be playing a fatherly role in a set of flashback scenes. Originally moving to California in the hopes of becoming an actor, he has decided to join this project because he believes that it has serious potential.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

My name is Cam and I’m an aspiring filmmaker living in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ever since I was old enough to pick up a pencil, I’ve loved creating worlds and stories that people can get lost in. Throughout the years I’ve made YouTube videos, written two novels, and aspired to film my own movie based on a script I’d written myself. Making a full length film proved to be almost impossible for a one man team on a caliber as intensive as my script demanded. I decided producing a shorter film would not only keep me accountable, but it would allow for more creativity. Besides this, I love gaming, hanging out with my friends, and dreaming of distant worlds.

WHY THIS MOVIE MATTERS

Whether you love them or hate them, almost everyone can agree that horror films are at least “fun” to experience. Still, just because something is “fun” doesn’t necessarily mean it “matters.” A film matters when it not only gives you your money’s worth, but allows you to deeply feel something in your heart, and empathize with a person you’ve never even met.

Millions of people are affected by mental illness every year, and it is one of the largest epidemics in our history. Despite how common these struggles are, they are somehow often invisible. This movie not only explores the darkness of the world around us, but the realistic consequences of continuing to place a stigma on those who truly need help and support.

This film is also aimed to be shot in as many “haunted” places as possible, as much as the budget allows. It’s our hope that this will open a door for paranormal events to occur both onscreen and offscreen, and also help the actors get into the character as much as possible.

WHERE YOUR FUNDS WILL GO

Any funds raised will go directly to purchasing equipment that will allow us to tell a great and truly scary story, from microphones, lighting setups, and other essential equipment. Additionally, we will donate a total of 10% of proceeds to charities that support those with mental illness, namely NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

OUR PROCESS AND WHO WE ARE

This small scale film will be shot over the course of five days throughout the summer. Everyone working on the film is very passionate about the movie and are great friends with each other. The film is also being directed and produced by people that are part of the LGBTQIA family.

This approach is very effective because each person feels the ability to bring suggestions and ideas to the table without feeling unimportant or judged. We sincerely believe that this approach will add to the value of APPREHENSION, overall!

This film has been inspired by some of the greatest horror movies to grace the silver screen. These inspirations include:

WHY GOFUNDME?

GoFundMe is a haven and blessing for creatives that are looking to create captivating projects with the assistance of fundraising. While the director has written scripts and directed films in the past, this is the first project that has the ability to become fully realized. There are multiple reasons for this.

First and foremost, please know that creating any type of professional project takes a lot of time and dedication from many talented people. It truly takes a village, and that includes you! 

Many of the people involved with this project live rich and fulfilling lives, such as working a typical day job, maintaining friendships and relationships, and finding time to dedicate solely to themselves. Rather than taking on the challenge of creating a full length movie, the cast and crew of this project have decided to work together and create something special on a smaller scale, all while not sacrificing production quality. We’re also not a huge movie studio with funds to make these projects happen solely on our own. 

GoFundMe allows us to raise funds and build interest with our projects in a very creative way. It allows us to source funds to make the impossible happen ourselves, as well as keep our donators involved, and that’s why utilizing GoFundMe for a creative project is a no-brainer.
