Huddersfield’s own Silk School of Dance, based in Honley, have achieved something truly extraordinary. Our young dancers have earned the honour of representing England at the 2026 Dance World Cup in Dublin next July — a dream they have worked so hard for.
We are raising funds to help cover event fees, costumes and travel, so every child who earned their place can step onto that world stage with pride. For many of them, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Out of over 9,000 applicants, only seven contestants per category make it to the finals from England. Against all odds, Silk’s team has qualified in the Children’s Ballet section. For a small local school competing against some of the biggest and most established dance academies in England, this achievement means the world.
The Dance World Cup is enormous — over 8,000 competitors from more than 60 countries gather each year. To think that children from our little community will stand among them is nothing short of magical.
But getting there comes with significant costs, and we don’t want finances to stand in the way of their dreams. If you can help — in any amount — you’ll be supporting not just a competition, but a moment these children will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our dancers shine on the world stage.
