My name is Chloe Hernandez, and I am a junior at Bard High School Early College Queens. I’m excited to share that I’ve been accepted into the CIEE Global Navigator High School Abroad program, where I’ll spend four weeks in Rome, Italy this summer. Through the program’s course, Creative Writing in the Land of Gods and Heroes, I’ll have the chance to expand my writing skills while experiencing a new culture and walking through the same streets that inspired some of history’s greatest artists and storytellers.

Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world. It’s where I turn when my thoughts feel too big for words, and where I find clarity when I can’t express myself out loud. Whether through poems, short stories, or personal reflections, writing has helped me process my thoughts and share my experiences. The freedom to create without boundaries, to grow, to refine my craft, and to write stories that feel real and true to me. This program is not just a chance to learn; it’s an opportunity to challenge myself, push my boundaries, and connect with others who share this passion. It is an opportunity to learn from experienced instructors and gain new perspectives that will shape not only my writing but also how I see the world.

The tuition for this program is $5,000, which covers my classes, excursions, housing, and meals. I am actively fundraising to contribute toward the cost, but I am also inviting donations from those who believe in supporting educational and creative growth.
