~Support thoughtful, folksy music and help us raise money to record~
Hello lovely readers and listeners, we are Billy Moon, a Charlottesville-based indie-folk band.
Our recent project was a performance featuring poems from A.A. Milne’s book When We Were Very Young put to original music (with voices, guitar, fiddle, ukulele, accordion, piano, mandolin, and a whisper of harmonica).
Upon hearing our music, the people asked,
"Where can we listen to you?"
We excitedly replied, "Right here, right now, in this very room!"
"But when I go home? How then can I listen?"
So we had a problem to solve—will you help us?
We treasure our songs and want the best for them, but the high cost of an excellent album recording (and mixing and mastering) means we need help. We are excited to work with the wonderful producer Daniel Goans, but first comes this fundraising push. Our goal is to raise over $8,000 in time for an early summer recording session—so, ideally, meeting our fundraising target by the end of April.
If we make over $4,000, we will still have enough to do a high-quality live recording—which would be great! We will see what we can do; your support gives us hope and great excitement.
For those who have not heard Billy Moon live, find some lo-fi song samples at the bottom of our band's homepage. It will give you a taste of what you can bring to life~
Our music is in a gentle, acoustic style that opens up to more upbeat folk melodies and rhythms. Combined with A.A. Milne's imagery, this album gives you an aural artifact of intricacy meeting innocence, a peaceful, artistic sound space.
