“A Lonely Place”
Set in the unforgiving wilderness of the High Sierra, “A Lonely Place” tells the story of ordinary people forced into extraordinary circumstances. When times were hard, Charlotte and Randy Foster robbed a bank. Things went south, and Randy took the fall. Charlotte hid the money in the mountains, and now Randy has been forced to escape prison by his dangerous and unpredictable cellmate, Vince Champlain, who wants that money. Forced to lead the way to the money, Charlotte takes Randy and Vince on a perilous journey from the small town of Lone Pine through the Alabama Hills, and into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where the fates of all three become inextricably intertwined. High in the mountains, cornered and trapped, Charlotte must ultimately make an impossible choice.
Told in the tradition of Charles Laughton’s The Night of the Hunter (1955), William Friedkin’s Sorcerer (1977), and the Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men (2007), “A Lonely Place” is a kinetic, tense, and unrelenting thriller. Like these films, “A Lonely Place” focuses on the stories of good people whose lives have been invaded by a tumultuous and nefarious presence. Pushed to their ethical and moral limits, they will find out how far they are willing to go to survive in a cruel world. What will we do for ourselves, and what will we do for the ones we love, when an uninvited evil threatens to rip all we hold dear away?

Mission and Fundraising Goals
We are committed to honest and unflinching storytelling. “A Lonely Place” is a story about survival in trying times, about the power of love in moments of desperation, and the persistence required to survive the incessant chaos of a violent interlocutor.
These are the types of stories that matter, and we are in an exciting moment in American independent filmmaking. Now, more than ever, it is possible to tell original stories without relying on the Hollywood system. Our project works in the long tradition of self-funding independent filmmaking that answers only to the power of storytelling and art made honestly and with genuine love for the craft.
“A Lonely Place” will be made on a shoestring budget, and we’re starting this grassroots fundraising campaign to subsidize the cost of the things we cannot do without, such as high-quality cameras and professional-grade sound equipment.
We believe passionately not just in the significance of the story “A Lonely Place” tells, but also in the power of community-backed independent film, and we hope you will join us on our journey.
Every dollar raised goes to covering equipment costs and support for our cast and crew. No donation is too small, and our fundraising prioritizes:
1). Camera Equipment
2). Lighting
3). Sound Equipment
4). Insurance
5). Permits
6). Travel and accommodations for the cast and crew
