My son, Theo, is trans. Although assigned female at birth, Theo has been living in his authentic gender identity for almost 2 years. He has been

diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria and began hormone treatment in October 2021. Since then his dysphoria is significantly reduced and his mental health is much improved.

Theo is a healthy, happy young man with a genuine love of life.

Theo would like to have top surgery so that he feels less dysphoric. Currently he wears a chest binder for up to 8 hours a day, which causes significant discomfort.

Top surgery would mean that his physical presentation aligns more closely with how he feels on the inside.

Trans Healthcare in the UK is notoriously difficult to access. The wait for an initial appointment for top surgery on the NHS is over 5 years, with over 11,000 people currently on the list and just 50 appointments available each month.

So Theo has decided to self fund his surgery and go private.

Theo hopes to have top surgery in Summer 2023. We are currently researching surgeons. His surgery and aftercare is likely to cost up to 10,000. He has already saved £1500 and will come into an inheritance in 2023 which he plans to use.
