Baby Vincent's Cystic Fibrosis

Hi guys! My name is Marissa Hauck and I am a student of Steven Hu, a teacher at Arnold O. Beckman High School. I have had the pleasure of having him as my AP Bio teacher, although I recently found out that he was taking a sudden leave of absence. However, we were  informed that this leave of absence was due to the fact that his newborn son, Vincent, carries the gene for Cystic Fibrosis. Mr. Hu will be going to spend time with Vincent in his time off, and will be in and out of the doctors office/hospital to make sure that his son is okay. After hearing all of this, a few of his students and I decided to put together this Go Fund Me to bring awareness to Cystic Fibrosis, and be able to raise money for both Vincent, and other children with this illness.

Because I do not know the details of the entire story, and because this has nothing to do with me,  Mr. Hu wanted to share something directly from him to explain the situation, and why this is so important to him.

"Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common genetically inherited fatal disorder. Almost all the treatments currently available only prolong the life of someone with CF, but there is no cure. No matter how much a patient fights, it will cut their lives short. Neither my wife nor I had any idea that we were carriers for CF, as no one in our families have the disorder. We only found out that we were carriers when we were pregnant with Vincent. At that point, we knew that there was a 25% chance he would have the genes for CF. As it turns out, he did inherit both of our CF genes. We were devastated to find out he had the genes for CF, and thinking that Vincent will have his life cut short and wont be able to experience everything a person should in life, like going to college, getting married, having children, etc. Currently, Vincent is thriving as any normal healthy child would, but the experts say all we can do is wait and see. He is so happy and adorable, and we are very lucky that he is not showing any symptoms. Marissa, one of my best students ever, was kind enough to set up this page for us. Any money raised here will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help them find a cure. The government does not provide any funding for research, and it is up to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to develop new treatments. They have many medications going through trials and have developed one drug that pretty much cures CF in 3% of people with CF. For those 3%, it is a miracle drug, and the CF foundation will not stop until a cure is found for everyone with CF! Thank you for your donation!

-Steven Hu"

Please help me and other students of his raise money to donate to this foundation, and help children like Vincent. Not only would it mean the world to Mr. Hu, but it would also mean so much to me. Vincent is such an adorable kid, and I would do anything possible that I could to be able to help him. It would mean everything to Mr. Hu if you donated even just a few dollars!

Thank you for reading all of this, and hopefully you find this as important as I do :) Please donate!!
