From Kathryn:
"It's amazing what can happen in a week.
Last week Brian noticed that Leland wasn't using his left hand very much; he would just bat his hand at things instead of grab them. I tried to give Leland tummy time and he would not lift his head at all. We also noticed he wasn't kicking his left leg like his right one. We called the doctor and were sent on our way to Sacred Heart Childrens ER.
The doctors decided an MRI should be the next step and because they were concerned about stroke or brain bleeding we stayed over night. The MRI showed a large tumor in Lelands upper spinal cord carrying through to his left neck. A biopsy was done the next day and was found to be cancerous.
Leland turned five months old on the 13th.
Leland was immediately started on steroids to reduce swelling of the tumor which has helped him receive greater ability to move his arms around (yay!).
It breaks our hearts to see our little guy going through this. We can't stand to leave his side while he undergoes chemotherapy and that's where we need your help. While my employer is being flexible with my schedule it still puts a big dent in our budget. We so greatly appreciate the prayers and kind words as well as everything else that our family and friends have been doing for us and for your continued support!
Thank you!
Leland, Brian and Kathryn"
