For Baby Liam's Heart

Donation protected
My name is Melissa Moya, I am the proud aunt of baby Liam. Liam has had a rough road in his short life. He was born December 21st and will need open heart surgeries. His parents were informed Liam had a small hole in his heart during pregnancy. They sent my sister for more testing and put her on a diet to help heal his heart. They were told babies with this defect could have other problems and were given the option of abortion. My sister and brother in law refused. Then later were told that most likely it closed as they couldn't see it anymore.

The day came when Liam was born and Immediately had  testing done. They found that Liams heart had not healed and that the hole in his heart was even bigger. Doctor told them to expect the worse and pray for the best. Since Liam was born during he holidays and there was not a pediatric cardiologist available, Liam was sent home and was told to see a cardiologist asap. My sister and her husband were told that Liam needed 24hr attentive care. His lips and nails had turned blue and pediatrician told them that was normal for his condition. They had been in contact with doctor almost daily and inhis office visit his oxygen level was low. This was a waiting game.... But how could they ask someone to take a baby home and wait??? When my own children have the slightest abnormality..... I can't wait.

They did what they had to and kept constant care of baby Liam. Finally, when Monday arrived they saw the pedicatric cardiologist at the children's hospital. There they were given the devastating news..... Liam's heart was worse then they imagined. Liam's heart had multiple holes and was going to need several operations. He also has holes in his mitral valve and the valve is constricted that is not letting blood flow correctly and also causing backflow to lungs.  My sister and her husband were devastated to get this news. Their whole life has completely changed. My sister currently watches Liam 24hrs making sure the fluid that is currently leaking from his heart doesn't get to much into his lungs. It has affected his breathing and doctor started him on medication to help remove fluid. Doctors have told them to expect the breathing to worsen before surgery. They will be increasing medications to help but will need surgery.

It is heart breaking to hear his struggles and pain. Amy Jessica and Angel are also the parent of two beautiful girls who are small and also need their attention. Currently, the specialist has asked for Liam not to have visitors due to his high risk of getting sick and they ordered special injections to help reduce risk of him getting sick. These injections are also very expensive and will need 6 to help reduce the risk of getting sick or RSV. They were asked to monitor Liam closely and will be needing many tests during this process. Also, cardiologist has asked to wait for Liam to gain some weight to 4.5 kilograms to have a better recovery and a better chance to survive. If his condition doesn't allow him to wait then they will do emergency open heart surgery. Currently, his caradiologist has increased dosage of medication and doesn't expect Liam to wait until 4.5kg.  His breathing has been worsening and doctor will be monitoring. He is currently 3.6 kilograms. We hope that little Liam's heart and lungs can wait till then. Specialist has advised to wait till then that way he can have a better recovery and a better chance to survive.  Amy just wanted to breast feed but because Liam couldn't tolerate she had to rent a hospital grade breast pump as soon as they got out of hospital.  The cardiologist has them adding formula to breast milk to create more calories and have Liam gain weight faster.

We have created this page to help Amy Jessica and  Angel afford expenses they weren't expecting. There is currently many tests,  equipment rental,  medications, and surgeries that are involved and will need donations to help. For now they will continue to help their youngest fight and wait for Liams first surgery.

This family has been through more in the span of a month of Liams life than most families go through in a generation. To think, that their journey has just begun is heartbreaking.

Thank you for reading this. They have alot to worry about and if we can help with some of their costs for Liam it would alleviate some stress. This means alot to them because their babies mean the world to them. Any amount is helpful. We also ask for prayers. We truly believe God is the best healing doctor their is. I know God will give my sister and her family the strength needed to climb this mountain.

"A broken heart always needs the help of the community to heal"-Angel (dad)

This is from Liam's dad (Angel):
I go thru my life with my head down and keep plugging away. When something arises I tend to fix it myself. As a kid, I wanted to do everything. Now I do as I can. If my kids need something I get it for them. I help fix their bumps and bruises. I think this one I can not fix on my own. I have tried to keep this quiet because I needed to come to the realization that my son is not healthy. I wished so much that I can fix it myself. I had it in my head that it will fix on its own. That came to a crumbling end when the doctor told us that the only option is open heart surgery. My life just stopped, the room just stopped, my heart just stopped. Did I hear her right? Does she need to open my son's heart to fix him? My son that is only 3 weeks old?
Will I still be able to take him to his first football game? Will I help him thru the first girl that breaks his heart? Will I see him fall in love with his soul mate? Will I have to bury him?...... Kids are suppose to bury their parents not the other way around....
Well as I said before I don't know if I can do this alone. So family, friends, colleague, strangers, please look into your hearts. Look into his eyes. Please help with what ever you can. A prayer, a well wish, a donation if you can... This is coming from a Dad that never thought he would have to go thru this in his life. -Angel
