Six month old James has recently been diagnosed with a rare incurable genetic syndrome which causes multiple heart defects, low muscle tone, and impacts his ability to effectively feed. It is necessary for James' mother to take a year’s unpaid leave of absence from her job to care for James and to meet with all of his doctors on a weekly basis. The family has unforeseen medical expenses and there are many uncovered medical expenses such as the costs incurred in travel to specialists, parking, etc. that are mounting daily.
