My sister Alicia and her husband Cody are expecting their first child at the end of March, 2015. Around 18 weeks they were called in for testing because some of her levels were too high. After hours of testing, weeks of worrying and too much stress from "self diagnosing" online, it was determined that little Cody Jr. had omphalocele. A condition in which the intestines had grown outside of the stomach and needs to be surgically repaired.
Poor little Baby Grubbs will need immediate surgery following his birth to start the process of putting everything back in place, so to speak. Of course, this is all to be done in Little Rock and the family will be there for at least 4-8 weeks, possibly longer. Thank goodness for the Ronald McDonald Foundation and the housing that will be provided for the family, for a smaller fee than a hotel, while baby Cody gets well. Unfortunately, the bills and house payment(s) over the course of everything will continue to roll in, while the paychecks will not. I would like to raise enough money that Alicia & Cody will not have to stress about bills while they are going through this tough time. But that is not all.
Once little Junior is healed up enough to go home, they have to make the 3 1/2 hour drive home with a fragile baby boy. To top the cake with this little miracle baby, is the fact that he will need a special car seat, made specifically for babies with the same condition. And who would've guessed it??? This is not an average priced car seat either! Upon research, we found these specially designed baby carriers are going anywhere from $1,500 - $2,000. CRAZY!!
So, I would like to help the Grubbs family by raising enough money for them to purchase this special seat for their special baby as well as feel comfortable knowing they aren't coming home to piled up bills and debt collectors!! The next few months are going to be hard enough on them, so please, help me help them and let's give Cody Dean Grubbs II a safe place to ride and his parents a peace of mind.
