Babygirl Stella fighting HLHS
Donation protected
My 6 month old daughter Stella was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), but diagnosed 4 days after her birth. Here’s her story: On September 25th around 5 am, my baby girl started crying so I got up to feed her and when I went to grab her she had stopped crying and refused to eat. She had been eating less than an ounce of milk each feeding and would hardly urinate, I was supposed to take her to her first doctors appointment that morning because I was really concerned, but didn’t because I had noticed she was breathing fast and heavily. I woke up my husband and we rushed her to the hospital. When we got there, they noticed she was lethargic and in a matter of seconds, more than 7 people were trying to get her iv, intubate her, getting meds, and calling the children’s hospital to transport her. (They thought it had to do with respiratory). When the ambulance got there, there wasn’t enough room for my husband and I so we sped to the children’s hospital, trying to get there at the same time my daughter did. Comes to find out, she has congenital heart disease. Doctors told us that we saved her life, if we would’ve got to the hospital 5 minutes after the time we did, it would’ve been fatal. She got her first open heart surgery at 13 days old (The Hybrid) and got The Norwood and Glenn on March 29, 2019. The next day they did a cath lab on her and noticed there were complications and rushed her back to the O.R. And had to revert the Glenn. Later, we found out she had blood clots in her legs, caught the Adeno virus, failed when they extubated, and is going through withdrawals from being on her pain meds for a few weeks. When I was pregnant with her I had planned to go back to work after a couple of months, but never expected to have a baby with a heart defect. We have a minimum of 2 appointments a week and a maximum of 7. My husband is the only one working and the bills are starting to stack up. We’re under a lot of stress, emotional and financial roller coasters, and sleepless nights. If you could help donate money, our family would appreciate it. I really tried not to ask for money, I was making cheesecakes to raise money, but it takes too much time away from my baby girl and she needs me by her side.
