Welcome Drew's Crew!!
As many of you know sweet Drew was laid to rest in the beauitful Forest Lawn Cemetery - what we like to call "the park". Mandy and Wes enjoy regular visits with him and now that little Hadley is here she goes to visit as well. It is not at all what they had pictured as a family outing, but they make the best of it and embrace their time together.
The "park" has a policy on the type of benches/seating that you have. The family placed a beautiful brown wicker bench there to make time visiting a little easier, however the bench has been removed.
Mandy and Wes were taken back by this, as visits are hard enough and then to find your bench taken as it is "not up to policy".
I have contacted the cemetery and spoke with them about purchasing a bench. Chief (Libby's grandfather) already had things rolling as they were purchasing one for Libby and offering the Jones' and the Slocum's a bench at a discount. (Bench is $1,500 with $60 engraving of SLOCUM)
Drew's Crew has excelled at everything thrown at them - meals, his school bus, funds for team Libstrong and Drew's Crew, and more. My next challenge for us all is to purchase a granite bench for "the park" in memory of Drew to allow family and friends a comfortable place to sit while visiting.
I am hoping we can raise the funds and then once the bench is ordered I will send Mandy and Wes something to let them know that their bench has been purchased from you all who made it happen. :) You are all amazing so I will thank you in advance for your support and keeping it a sweet little surprise. I know you all will want to spread the word but please don't share on FB or talk with Mandy/Wes about it.
Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns/ideas.
Sarah
