Hello friends and family. It is hard to ask for help sometimes but we have a long journey ahead of us. I also wanted to share what we have been going through over the  last few weeks. We got a call the week before Christmas that my blood work came back showing that baby had a 1:22 for some birth defects. December 23 we went in and got great news finding out we are having a baby girl (Clara) but we were the 1 in 22. Clara has lower back Spina Bifida (L4-S5) where there is  no spine in this spot instead a pocket of fluid coming out. She has two options one is surgery before I’m 26 weeks pregnant and one is surgery 24 hours after she is born. We are both really healthy so we are candidates for the in utero surgery and chance of baby coming out not needing a shunt or other surgery are very high after this surgery. This difficult surgery is only done out of state so this means we will be flying to Houston or San Francisco for a week or two then flying back here to recover (as long as it’s safe, some end up staying there till baby is born).  Clara’s Spina Bifida is on her lower back,  she faces leg problems and bowel problems without  surgery. The Doctors and moms who we have talked with have shared great information on baby’s who have this early surgery there is a high percentage of success . My children are my world so our hope is to give Clara the best chance possible for a normal life. I will be out of work till baby is born and Bob will be out a few weeks to a month or so to take care of us. Not having my income coming in we are so thankful for great people who want to reach out and help us make it through this difficult time. We know God never gives us more then we can handle so we are also asking for as many prayers as we can get. Thanks for your support!
