Baby Zane (series of) Heart Surgery

Donation protected
24th week gestation I was told that my baby has a TGA ( transposition of the great artery) wherein the Pulmonary Artery and Aorta was switched.
And it didn't end there they also found out that he has a defect called VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) AKA a Hole in the heart.  VSD is a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart. In normal development, the wall between the chambers closes before the fetus is born, so that by birth, oxygen-rich blood is kept from mixing with the oxygen-poor blood. When the hole does not close, it may cause higher pressure in the heart or reduced oxygen to the body.
As any parent can imagine, it is the hardest thing to try and stay composed when a Doctor is telling you the news of a condition in your first born child where you can’t do anything to change it.
So the plan is he will have a series of surgery. Yes a series meaning 2-3 surgeries. First is few days after delivery, Second is 6-8 months of his life and the Third really depends on how will the last surgery go.
--------
• Delivery day
I had him on normal delivery, 39th week gestation.  As soon as he came out I never had a chance to hold him, medical team took him to the NiCU right away. I spent most of my time visiting him to NICU instead of resting and trying to recover. The frustration is real I wanted to hold him in my arms but I cant.
• Day 6 is when we had a meeting with the surgeon
• Day 7 he was transported to CH in LA
• Day 8 is the moment of truth, his surgery
  - we are able to see him after, but this totaly breaks my heart seeing my newborn with incision in his chest, wires, monitors everywhere but still I need to be strong, and think that this is for the best and GOD has a plan.
• Day 9 to 32.... after staying in the hospital for a month, we finally got discharged.

Zane is healing quite well but has several more surgeries ahead of him. Feeding is our biggest challenge coz he easily gets tired.

With everything we’ve been going through since the beginning of this process, we have had to start pushing the medical bills aside and simply concentrate on what needs to be done for Zane. But these bills will not go away this not includes prescriptions and doctor visit fees.

This life event is hitting us hard and we are trying to stay strong for him. We truly mean it, every penny helps and anything you are able to contribute is appreciated more than we can ever explain.  Our son means the absolute world to us, and we will do whatever it is we have to do to get him the health care he needs, so he can live a full and healthy life. Again Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
