Life Saving Open Heart Surgery for Baby Lorelei

My name is Allyson and I am Sarina’s older sister and Morgan’s sister in law. As a protective big sister (and favorite aunt), I see and hear how much pain they are in and the stress is adding up. Therefore, I’ve created this Go Fund Me for their medical expenses and to ease their stress somewhere I can actually help.


Sarina and Morgan were so excited to find out they were expecting their second child. All was going well and it seemed like a normal pregnancy- until July 7th. When Sarina went in for the anatomy scan of their sweet Baby Lorelei. She was told they were not able to see everything on her heart.


Baby Lorelei was then diagnosed with a congenital heart defect known as transposition of the great arteries or d-TGA. This means that the two main arteries of the heart, the aorta and pulmonary vessel, are switched and attached to the wrong chambers of the heart. In addition, one of her valves is also looking a little thick which can cause leaking. This means that while she is thriving in her Mama’s uterus and even when she is born, she will be blue due to the lack of oxygen throughout her body.


Sarina is no longer in the care of her regular OB and now in the care of an OB and Pediatric Cardiologist at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston where she will try to give birth as normal as possible in mid-November. Baby Lorelei will immediately be taken for open heart surgery.


Baby Lorelei’s older sister, Heidi (4), with the help of family and their older sister Lexi, will be able to stay between many family members on the days that she is not home with her Mama and Morgan.


Funds donated will help Sarina and Morgan travel back and forth between her daughters, day to day bills, food costs while they are at the hospital, and most importantly, Baby Lorelei’s medical bills. They are currently working with their insurance and Texas Children’s Hospital to get an estimate on the medical costs, but they are anticipating them to be very high. We set a limit on this Go Fund Me, as it is required, but we will adjust it if necessary as Sarina is unable to currently work per doctor orders.
