Everyone has that one person that will always love them and that will always take care of them! For me that one person is my older brother Nic! He loved me even before I was even born! My mom always tells the story about how he prayed that he would have a little sister! Then after I was born he took care of me even when he didn't have to! (For everyone that knew us growing up you know he was taking care of me because my parents were always chasing my turd brother Joe!) Our bond has never changed! He even said yes to being my Man of Honor in my wedding! Even though I love Nic being the one who takes care of me I now feel it is time for ME TO TAKE CARE OF HIM! A couple of weeks ago Nic called me to tell me that at their 20 week ultrasound, there 3rd son had spina bifida. They might have to get surgery! I could tell by his voice he was trying so hard to be strong but he was a wreck! I had no idea what this meant but I just reassured him everything was going to be ok. But of course I did what anyone would do and Googled it. Everything looked so scary! Now my heart started melting for him and his amazing fiancé Ashley. Spina Bifida is a birth defect in which a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly. It occurs when a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop or close properly while in the womb. Basically saying that baby won’t be able to walk, have use of his bladder, and could even have issues with his brain. BUT! Because of science there is a possible surgery that could make sweet baby Waylon’s life completely normal. After a good two weeks of testing my brother, Ashley, and Baby Waylon got OKed for the surgery!!!!!!!

But like any Brown you know my brother is still too proud to ask for help! But now we need to realize what pride is!!!!

PRIDE as fellow mom is being SO PROUD AND THANK FUL that Ashley is the mother to my nephews!

PROUD OF HER because 70% of most people choose to abort their babies when they are at this stage of Spina Bifida but she wouldn’t even make that an option

PROUD OF HER because she has to get cut open at 23 weeks pregnant and get a straight up Grey's Anatomy Surgery where baby Waylon will be given spinal surgery inside her belly! Then turn around after she heals from that surgery just to have another surgery to give birth to Waylon.

PROUD OF HER because the same day she is getting that insane surgery she will be missing her oldest sons first day of preschool!

PROUD OF HER because not only does she have to go through all of this she has to live in Minnesota away from her other two children, her family, and her whole life until December so she can be close to the doctors that will save her baby’s life!

PROUD OF HER because that 20 weeks of work that she was counting on (and works so hard as a CNA) won’t be there to provide for her family

PROUD OF HER because these are the hardest feels any mom would have to go through!

One of the requirements for Baby Waylon to even be considered for the surgery was that his family had to have a good support system. My family will always step up as much as we can but now I want to show two of the most honest hardworking nice people that a community can also rally behind them!
