Newborn Vada RSV
Donation protected
As most of you know, my sweet niece Vada Dexter was born February 24, 2020. After a very long pregnancy, with many complications we were ecstatic to have her earth side. After each incident, we said "what more could happen to them, what more could they go through?"
Then Vada was hospitalized with RSV at 11 days old. Six days in, she has spent a majority of her hospital stay in the pediatric ICU. She has been on oxygen and struggling to keep her levels up on her own. Being a brand new baby, she doesnt have the strength to eat on her own, so she has had to have a ng tube inserted where she is being fed breast milk. Thankfully, her lungs are sounding better and she should fully regain her strength and recover. But it has been a long and trying week on Nicole, who hasnt left Vada's side, Heather, who is traveling between hospital and home to take care of Harvey and Vada and also had to extend her leave from work, and Harvey who is confused and missing both his mommas and sister.

This hasn't come with out a large cost to Vada and her family. Many people have reached out and have wanted to help, although no one likes to ask for it, Nicole, Heather, Harvey and Vada could use it. Being states away, this is the easiest way to help.
Since Nicole found out she was pregnant:
-Heather has had two surgeries. One where she found out that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Cervical Cancer. And a second, where she had a partial hysterectomy to treat her diagnosis. She had to be off work for several weeks to heal.
- Their basement flooded, causing 11,000 worth of damage. Which insurance covered 10,000.
- When Nicole was 31 weeks pregnant, she went into labor. She was transferred to Maine Med and hospitalized for two days. While they were able to stop the labor, she continued contracting up until she had the baby. Which led to several ER visits, monitoring appointments and another admittance for one night. She also had to call into work multiple times and eventually go off of work.
They're strong enough to handle to the stress, but the hospital bills are adding up. We know that there are many people out there with worse scenarios and are very appreciative of everyone who has rooted for Vadas health and healing. If you are unable to donate, no worries. Please just keep Nicole, Heather, Harvey and Vada in your thoughts and lets get them all home, healthy and moving forward as a family of four.
