Baby Thomas Needs Life Saving Open Heart Surgery.
Donation protected
We welcomed Thomas Aaron into this world on Monday, October 5th. He was born prematurely at only 34 weeks. We knew Thomas was going to be born with D-Transposition of the Great Arteries, and VSD which was discovered at my 20 week anatomy scan. When Thomas was born and he was given an echocardiogram after birth it was discovered that he also has ASD, and Coarctation of the Aorta.
On Tuesday, October 6th Presbyterian Hospital life flighted Thomas to Children's Hospital Colorado.
In his short 6 days of life Baby Tommy has faced many uphill challenges. He had a chest tube placed at 1 day old due to a collapsed left lung, He has received two blood transfusions because his blood does not have enough red blood cells to carry oxygenated blood through his little body. Thomas is also back on a ventilator due to respiratory failure and will not come off of it for a few weeks.
Thomas is scheduled for his first 11 hour open heart surgery on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:30 am. That may be postponed for a few days because they are currently running a lung culture for pneumonia. If the culture shows pneumonia or any other type of infection they will postpone surgery to treat him for a few days with antibiotics.
After surgery we are still facing several weeks of recovery in the ICU.
Any money that is raised will go to helping us get through this time in Denver as Tommy and I are both out of work at this time. We will be here for several weeks and are faced with many expenses at this moment.
We humbly ask you for any and all help. We appreciate each and everyone of you for reading our story. If you can not donate we would be grateful if you could share this.
Please keep Tommy, Myself, Wesley and Baby Thomas in your prayers as we go through this.
THANK YOU!
