When a New Year approaches I, like many others, take moments to think about my goals and aspirations for the upcoming year. One main goal I have is to help my sister get her son a headstone. My nephew Skyler could brighten your darkest day just with his smile, and his infectious laugh would bring tears to your eyes even when you’re not in on the joke. My sister suffers the worst pain anyone can imagine, the loss of a child. Skyler passed away in a tragic accident and as most are aware, funeral expenses are far from cheap. Skyler is missing one last piece for his resting place… a headstone. So me and my daughter decided to try to raise the funds for it to make 2019 the last year he has to go without one. For those of you that know my sister Crystal, there is no doubt in my mind that she has cheered you up when your having a bad day, made sure you got something you were in need of, or was the advocate in your corner during a crisis. For those of you that do not know her, she raises Skyler’s 3 siblings and does not miss a game or dance recital. She volunteers at the school and any activity the kids are into. She spent every waking hour with the refugees from the Camp Fire going from tent to tent finding out what each family needed. From diapers to formula, to clothing and blankets, and even dozens of tents and full campers; she made sure they got what they needed. That is the kind of person my sister is. But now she needs help to get her baby boy a headstone. Our goal is $2,500 to make that happen for her. I do not have a ton of Facebook friends online so every share is much appreciated. Thank you. This means more to us than you know.
