Baby Sharon Rosemary

Update June 2019: On Monday June 3rd, 2019, our 9-month baby Sharon Rosemary went in for a 6-hour open heart surgery at CHOA Egleston to have her VSD heart defect fixed and to improve her quality of life, breathing difficulties and overall health. During the surgery, the surgeon was able to successfully close the two holes in her heart. Sharon still has pulmonary hypertension in her lungs after the surgery so they are giving her medicine and additional time in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit CICU to correct it. Her lungs need to improve in order to move her into a lower care section of the hospital. Three days after surgery, doctors were able to remove the ventilator machine, start her milk feeding and allow her to be held by mom and dad. Please pray for all doctors and nurses working on her and for a speedy recovery. Update December 2018: Sharon Rosemary was born, the sixth of six girls, premature in August of 2018. This angelic baby was born with many difficult conditions which would make each breath of hers precious. From birth, she spent six weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU and later two weeks in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit. That is nearly two thirds of her little baby life. Baby Sharon is suffering from the heart condition, Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). With this, she also struggles with difficulties breathing, growing, and eating. The hope is that she becomes well enough to endure heart surgery this coming winter. For this hope to be realized, she must grow and to grow she must be able to hold down her food, with which she often struggles. Most recently, more often than not, she must be tube fed. After coming home from the hospital, she has had constant appointments to attend with pediatric and specialty doctors. Her medicine needs are quite extensive. As her immune system is compromised, she must be isolated as much as possible. Unlike a healthy baby, she may not be held and kissed by all who want to show her their love for if she catches any sickness it could cost her her life. This is most likely the greatest suffering for her five older sisters, ages 3, 7, 9, 12, and 13. Hers is a life so fragile that the Lord has allowed it to be treasured and cared for by all. From hospital stays, medicine, shots, visits to the doctor, travel costs and the many special needs her fragile life has required the financial burden this little life brings to the family has been quite extensive. With her father working and her mother being a stay at home, homeschooling mother, these financial needs are impossible for the family to carry alone. At the request of friends and family and during this time before the great celebration of the birth of Our Lord Jesus, we wanted to invite others to give baby Jesus a gift of love by supporting precious baby Sharon Rosemary.
