Baby Serenity’s brain surgery recovery
Baby Serenity is three years of age. Serenity is 91 percent deaf in both ears. She has been recently diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, bilateral (both ears). Baby Serenity tries so hard to learn and speak but is really struggling due to her hearing loss. She just received her brain surgery (cochlea implant) on Oct 14,2020.
The cochleae implant is a specialized hearing device to restore hearing for patients who are profound to severely deaf. The procedure is performed by cutting the head and removing the hollow bone behind the ears. After making the incision, the bone is drilled away where it connects to the middle ear. The round window is exposed then the wale along With a channel are drilled into the skull in which the titanium implant is inseeded. The electric array is then inserted into the round window then threaded into the cochlear. The skin incision is then closed. After 4-6 weeks of healing , the external component of the cochleae implant can we want to start the process of hearing restoration.
I would first like to thank everyone for taking the time to read on Baby Serenity’s struggle to restore her hearing. I ask that if you can not donate , please pray for her for a speedy recovery and for hearing restoration. Serenity will need the following after her surgery so that she will be successful in her hearing journey:
Speech therapy
Home school with certified teachers with direct communication 35-55 hourly
Sign language classes
Ipad for school which IOS devices are equipped with features for the hearing impaired.
School for the deaf
Thank you all do much again and please keep us in your prayers. I will keep everyone posted on her recovery as well as her education. God Bless!!!
