Sadie Kunz- Daughter of Hannah and Clark Kunz

Donation protected

Hannah and Clark Kunz my niece and nephew’s daughter Sadie was born July 27, 2020 at 37 weeks at 5lbs 2 oz 17  3/4”. My Niece Hannah experienced serious complications during the entire pregnancy with Fetal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) that affected Sadie’s heart. The best way to explain it is Sadie’s heart would go into an SVT episode and race to over 300 bpm for extended periods of time. Hannah was in an out of the hospital 8 weeks during the pregnancy. With doctors concerned that Sadie’s heart could only take so much stress from the SVT episodes they decided to do a C-Section at 37 weeks. Sadie was born and all doctors and NICU deemed her healthy after 2 days of intense testing and observation. It seems that Sadie’s electrical system reset itself and the SVT was gone or so we all thought.  Her one and two week checkups look good. The echocardiogram show no signs of SVT and she was gaining weight. On August 12, 2020 Hannah and Clark noticed that Sadie was have trouble breathing. They rushed her to ER who once again ran an echocardiogram showing no signs of SVT distress and  basically dismissing Hannah as an over protectant new mother. Fast forward 2 days Sadie’s coloring once again turned shades of blue and begin to vomit. The rush her back to the ER and this time she is in a full SVT episode with her little heart racing that couldn’t seem to be controlled. They placed her on a ventilator to give her heart some help and explained the seriousness of her condition to Hannah and Clark.  The decision was made to life flight her to University Medical Center South Carolina in Charleston Where they specialize in Fetal SVT. Hannah and Clark rushed to Charleston to meet the life flight. Once Sadie arrived The specialist began to try different medicines to keep her heart out of SVT including placing a pacemaker behind Sadie’s heart to try and stimulate her heart out of the SVT episodes. Things we’re looking promising until Sadie spiked a fever yesterday and doctors realized her stomach was descended. After consulting with surgeons they rushed Sadie’s into emergency surgery to discover she had most likely been experiencing SVT episodes since birth which began to cut off blood supply to her organs starting with her appendix. Sadie’s appendix had ruptured and surgeons removed what was left of the appendix and attempted to rid her little body of the bacteria associated with ruptured appendix.  They are hopeful they can treat her blood infection from the ruptured appendix via antibiotics and blood transfusions. Sadie will need ongoing observation at MUSC to rid her body of the bacteria and to get back to controlling her SVT condition. Hannah and Clark are staying at a hotel next to the hospital because Ronald McDonald House is closed due to Covid-19. Both Hannah and Clark are there with Sadie, around the clock, taking them both out of work. Clark is a Police Officer for the city of Ft. Inn South Carolina and will soon exhaust his paid time off.  At this point both Hannah and Clark will be without a salary and facing  mounting medical and hotel expenses in order to stay close to Sadie. Please consider helping In any way you can so that Hannah and Clark can continue to be by Sadie’s side as she recovers from emergency surgery and treatment for her SVT heart condition.
