On June 11, 2021 Rylen Jackson Rodgers decided to make his entrance into the world, 2 weeks early. His momma made it through her work day on Thursday, battling contractions and finally after her last patient of the day, drove herself over to the hospital. Around 2am Rylen made his appearance. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse and was not breathing on his own as well as they would like. He was transferred to the Arnot NICU where he began treatments of O2 supplement, and multiple medications to help stabilize him. Unfortunately, all the treatments at the Arnot NICU were not enough and he needed to be transferred 2 hours away to Strong Memorial NICU. He is currently on an oscillator vent which is providing 52% (down from 100%) of his O2 needs. He is on a sedation/paralytic medication to keep him from moving as he is an active little guy and wants to be moving all the time, but his O2 drops every time he does. This will give his body/lungs a chance to heal and catch up.
He is so strong and has been fighting non stop for the entire first week of his life.
Currently, Stacey and Ben are both with Rylen at Strong NICU and plan to remain there for as long as possible. Stacey is showing her baby what true strength is and what a mother's love is all about..after just having a baby and recovering herself, she has barely left his side. Though he is on a paralytic, he definitely knows when his momma is near. They have another young son, Graiden, who is anxiously waiting to meet his baby brother. Graiden is staying with his Mimi and Poppop who are keeping him entertained and active while mom and dad are taking care of his brother. The plan is to try to take G to see his parents on the weekends, when possible.
Alot of people have reached out to see what they can do to help this beautiful family. The biggest thing right now is continued prayers for Baby Rylen. That his lungs clear and continue to grow, that his body heals and he is able to be weaned off the ventilator and the other medications he is on. Prayers for strength, patience and peace for his parents as they continue to stay by Rylen's side fighting for their precious baby boy.
