Hi, everyone my name is Jess and I went to high school with Rachel in Fairport, NY. We’ve only been in touch via social media sporadically over the years. One of the nice upsides to socials - connected yet miles apart. Over the last year she has been quiet online and I missed seeing her posts, funny stories about her girls and occasional life updates. It was just a few short weeks ago that Rachel posted a life update from the past year. Her and her family moved cities, communities across the US and she got pregnant with her 3rd! Rosie Mae was born in April - welcome to the world sweet girl. Soon after she was experiencing difficulty breathing and was taken to the NICU. Rosie was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome. Her stay in the NICU continued. After 2 weeks she was able to go home and meet her big sisters who were anxiously awaiting to meet her and see their parents. As they were setteling in all together Rosie’s eye started to enlarge. After several MRIs, tests, trial medications, biopsies, and anxiety over the last weeks, she was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and a tumor located behind her eye. Rachel and her family are trying to balance the needs of their newest baby girl while also maintaining their other girls normality. Let alone functioning under a roller coaster of emotions. Joy of her birth, anxiety, stress, worry, and now in fight mode. I pray for them. I pray for Rosie. I can’t do much being thousands of miles away but I can organize a fundraiser to try to relieve some stress of medical needs and life needs for their family of 5.
