Baby Rizzotti Memorial Fund

Sarah Bellino is a valued member of the Element Natural Healing Arts team. We were all very excited about the news of her pregnancy. Bellino "Lino" Ray Rizzotti was born October 4th. Due to an inoperable brain tumor baby Lino passed on October 7th. Sarah's Element family would like to lessen the burden of this tragedy with this GoFundMe page.
Here is Sarah's story:
Very early in the morning on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Sarah's water broke, and later that evening she delivered by Caesarian section a beautiful baby boy named Bellino Ray Rizzotti. (He goes by "Lino" for short.) He weighed 5 lbs and 12 oz. Sarah wasn't quite 37 weeks pregnant, but no one was worried about his health at this time, because everything about her pregnancy had been normal up to now.
However, immediately on delivery, it became very clear that there were complications. Lino was not breathing well, had very poor muscle tone, and a larger than normal head. He was whisked upstairs to the neonatal intensive care unit at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of Columbia University where he was evaluated by a multispecialty group of doctors consisting of neonatologists (newborn pediatricians), neurologists, and neurosurgeons.
It was determined that Lino had a very large brain tumor. He was surrounded by the finest medical care available, and the doctors collaborated, consulted, and agreed that the tumor was inoperable and that the damage it had done was extremely severe and irreversible. The tumor was located at the base of his brain, where it had destroyed his brain stem, the control center for the body’s most essential functions: breathing, heart rate, temperature, and other more esoteric functions. Lino could only breathe weakly, could not swallow or suck, had no voluntary movements, could not eat, and was unconsciousness. The one bright spot was that the doctors are fairly certain that he was not suffering. His health continued to decline over the next two days, and he died peacefully in Sarah and Patrick's arms on Friday, October 7th, 6:58pm.
