My sister, Brittney, and her boyfriend, Travis, found out they were expecting a child in February. They were both overjoyed with excitement. However, their excitement turned to worry when they learned at 14 weeks that Brittney’s pregnancy was going to be high risk. She was diagnosed with subchorionic bleeding (a hematoma between the uterus and placenta). It was also discovered that the placenta was detaching in a small area. Due to this diagnosis, Brittney was restricted from working the rest of her pregnancy.
Fast forward to week 23, Brittney was lifelined to Methodist Hospital due to extreme bleeding and premature labor. She was told by her doctors that she would not be going home until the baby was born. Although doctors tried to prevent labor, Brittney and Travis gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Rhett Lee Hadley, at just 27 weeks and 1 day. Rhett, of course, is extremely premature. He was born on August 11th weighing just 2 lbs 6.5 oz and 14” long. So far, Rhett has proven to be a little fighter! But he will remain in the hospital for approximately 60 to 90 days.
Brittney and Travis could use some help during this very difficult time. Britt will be off of work for several more months, and Travis has barely left her’s and Rhett’s side during all of this. They anticipate that Travis will go back to work in a couple weeks to a month. But even then, Britt will continue to stay in Indy to be as close as possible to Rhett. And of course, they will have travel expenses. Britt continues to have two other girls she has to financially care for during all of this time too. Lastly, they have not yet had a chance to purchase anything for Baby Rhett given his early arrival. To help alleviate the financial stressors during an already stressful time, I have created this campaign to help during Rhett’s journey. If you could donate, I know Brittney and Travis would be forever grateful. Thank you in advance and God Bless you for helping.
