Raelynn was born on January 9th 2021 to a very proud Mom Kate, Dad Jake and Big Brother Rowen. Raelynn has been a happy and healthy baby girl and the family has shown so much love and welcoming her to the family. Especially Rowen.
On Tuesday Raelynns family brought little miss to their family doctor to get looked at. She wasn’t acting herself. They were then sent to the POP Clinic in Peterborough to have a better examination by a team of nurses and doctors. When they got there they ended up sending Raelynn for an X-ray, an ultrasound, did blood work, and also tested for COVID(Which was negative). Raelynn was given an IV for fluid. 2 hours later, the team chose to put a tube down Raelynns’ nose into her belly to release any gas that may be in her stomach. Wednesday afternoon Raelynn had the tube removed from her nose as the team didn’t think that was the problem The team still wanted to monitor Raelynn overnight. Raelynn had more blood work and it came back good. On Thursday morning, Raelynn had blood work taken again and her blood count came back great. Raelynn had her IV out later Thursday afternoon. Raelynn was monitored over night again without an IV. On Friday morning at 930am the team came and said there wasn’t anything too alarming at the moment and they wouldn’t need to rush to Sick Kids quite yet. The team believed it is an illness attacking her bowels. The team sent Raelynn to X-ray for her stomach at 1145am. By 630pm the team said he didn’t see many improvements yet and are now considering options over night for the next stage of Raelynns care. Saturday morning Raelynn and Kate were transported by EMS to Sick Kids around 11am. Raelynn and Kate are now admitted in General Surgery. The team at Sick Kids are doing irrigation’s on Raelynn every 6 hours and will do a biopsy Tuesday Feb 16 to test her nerve cells.
This is a very difficult position to be placed in. Difficult not only having to worry about your baby’s health but also having to worry about finances at the same time. Please pray for Raelynn and her mom Kate, especially during COVID. Also pray for Dad, Jake and brother Rowen, as they can’t be with either Raelynn or Kate to comfort them. If we could show our support for this family by praying and raising some funds for meals for Kate while she and Raelynn await the next steps of their journey at Sick Kids. At this time the family is awaiting news about possible surgery. I know being in the hospital with both my children how emotionally difficult it can be but then the added difficultly afterwards with travelling back and forth for checkups.
If we could help cover costs during and after (they live a great distance from Toronto) for gas, parking and food. Just in general help ease the family the best we can and show our support for them in this time. Thank you everyone!!! Praying for Raelynn and Family
