Baby Raelyn Dahms

On March 12, 2024, we were blessed with twin girls, Adalyn and Raelyn. After Raelyn was born, she has had an uphill battle with many unanticipated medical complications including severe respiratory obstruction, skeletal issues, significant heart issues, and feeding concerns.

While we were expecting a busy life with twins on top of taking care of our other kids (ages 4 and 2), we were not expecting her multitude of health complications—resulting in a prolonged NICU stay, longer time off work, and separation from the rest of the family.

Her care has involved multiple specialists, two emergency transfers, including a life flight to Seattle. We have essentially been in the NICU since she was born, and are expecting to be here many more weeks if not months.

To support Raelyn and the family, I (Bryan) have needed to be off of work. While we have insurance, we have a $90,000 out of pocket maximum because much of our care is considered out of network. We don’t know exactly how insurance and finances will play out, but are guessing that multiple months in the NICU will be significant, compounded by lost income. When we eventually discharge from the hospital, Raelyn will also need significant follow up including a complex skull surgery when she reaches 6 months of age.

A goal of $50,000 seems high and daunting. I have no idea how much money this will ultimately cost, so $50,000 is a rough estimate of medical expenses and wages lost. It could be much higher than that.

We appreciate support in whatever way you feel comfortable with. Finances will be tight, but God provides and we trust that we will be okay. Prayers are always very appreciated.
