Parents Worst Nightmare

Phoenix started throwing up Easter Sunday. As he continued throwing up, he had loss of balance and was grabbing his head. After multiple visits to the hospital and doctors, no one would listen. They also ruled out constipation and acid reflux; they just kept telling my daughter is was a flu.

Finally on June 11th, he was taken to the hospital once again, still throwing up holding his head however this time, he couldn’t stand or walk at all. This time, the doctor listened, wrote a letter and sent my daughter to CHEO. After a 4 hr wait, they were sent for an ultrasound, chest x-ray, an mri and a spinal tap.

Phoenix was then diagnosed with hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) and a large tumor on the back of his head.

On Friday, June 16th, at 8am, Phoenix went into surgery which was the longest day of their lives, especially since Phoenix didn’t get out of surgery until midnight.

Today, Phoenix has an outer drain tube from his head where they are monitoring the fluid. We are waiting for the results of his new scans and the pathology to know what are the next steps. We are unsure how long he will be in the hospital for but were were told it could be weeks.

My daughter and son in law are at the hospital with him, are unable to work right now and have 2 other children at home. We are asking for any help to remove the stress of expenses at this time so they can focus on getting their baby better.
