Baby Oliver's Journey: Surgery and Hope
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
I am reaching out to share the journey of my baby nephew, Oliver, who was born prematurely at 34 weeks on March 7th due to complications from my sister, Gina, developing preeclampsia. Since his birth, Oliver has been fighting every day in the NICU, working hard to gain strength, learn to feed, and breathe independently without the need for oxygen. Despite the many challenges he’s faced, Oliver has shown incredible resilience, and we couldn’t be prouder of him.
Unfortunately, Oliver now faces another obstacle: surgery to repair a congenital condition known as a patent urachus. This condition occurs when the urachus, a tube that connects the bladder to the umbilicus during fetal development, fails to close after birth. The surgery was originally scheduled for mid-June when Oliver was expected to be stronger, but recent imaging has shown that the surgery must be performed much sooner, making this an urgent situation.
Given the circumstances, a GoFundMe has been set up to help cover the mounting medical expenses, travel costs, and the family’s need to stay by Oliver’s side during this challenging time. Jason and Gina will need to take additional time off work to care for Oliver during his recovery, and any support would be greatly appreciated.
We are deeply grateful for any help, whether through donations, gift cards, or simply sharing this with others. We trust that God will provide for their needs, and we are so thankful for the kindness and generosity from everyone who has already offered their support. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to bringing Oliver home healthy and strong.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love and support.
With heartfelt love and gratitude,
Oliver’s family
