Baby Noah's Funeral - NKH death

Don protégé

Hello

On May 8th at 9:59 am I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. All signs showed he was healthy, just seemed to be a quiet baby who had jaundice and trembles..."all normal newborn stuff"..

We left the hospital May 10th at 1:30 pm, by the 11th of May we were back at the Hospital and my baby boy Noah stopped breathing by 1:30 pm.."CODE ROSE" was being yelled over the intercom.
We waited 5 hours before being transferred to the childrens hospital, none of the dr's at our birth hospital had a clue what was going on with my baby Noah.
We were harshly questioned following this as "it had to be something we did". I wished so badly for that to be the truth after we found out the reality. Once in the NICU and having the "best of the best" dr's and genetics specialists on our case, they told us the prognosis would likely be brain damage and a metabolic disease that would require a life long special diet, within 24 hours that diagnosis changed to what it really was...

Reality : My son was diagnosed with Non Ketotic Hyperglycinemia.
A non treatable, terminal disease.
To sum it up, he couldnt break down a specific enzyme which caused him to have a build up in his body of this enzyme which acted as a toxin to him, leading to heavy brain damage. We were told that Palliative care was the only option for Noah. There are no tests for these genetic errors that are offered until after a situation like this arises. My sons father and I had a 1-76000 chance of finding another person with this gene error, and a 1-4 chance of having a child that is a carrier (like us) as well as affected (like our son Noah was).

Within less than a week of being born he had been picked and poked and had a ventilator breathing over his own breathing, as he wasnt strong enough.
Little Noah lasted a whole 3 weeks: 2 weeks with no IV fluids, no breastmilk since its poisonous to him, and no ventilator. Noah finally let go in mommy's arms on Friday, June 1st at 8:12 pm.
I saw his last breath , just as I saw his first.

As a cegep student who is turning 21 I am okay with money (management wise) but in order to have the funeral ceremony and arrangements that Noah deserves regardless of his short life, I am reaching out.

I will be adding more details in the days to follow but so far this is what I have calculated/inquired for:

400 +tx for funeral at church we have chosen (Noah was baptized while in the NICU)

200-300 + tx for special arrangements (organ/singer etc)

800-1000  : yearn + remembrance necklace with Noah's ashes

_____: Cremation and transportation from Funeral Home

______: Plot and grave stone
