baby Nevaeh ❤️ going to Miami for liver transplant

My beautiful daughter Nevaeh surprised us all, making her appearance on 10/02/2021, six weeks before we expected to meet her. While she is perfect in every way in our eyes, she has had some health complications that have required extensive surgeries and has not been able to come home. She was born with hydrocephalus and had her first major operation within the first week of her life. For this procedure, they had to fly her to Tampa General to place a shunt, allowing the excess fluid build up to drain into her stomach. Unfortunately this proved to be the first of many surgeries for our little girl. 

Shortly after the surgery to place the shunt, the doctors at Johns Hopkins All Children’s determined that Neveah was also suffering from a rare condition called biliary atresia. The ducts that carry bile from her liver to her gallbladder are malformed, causing the bile to backup into her liver. Her doctors performed a surgery called the Kasai Procedure to attempt to repair her bile ducts, but sadly this surgery was unsuccessful. The only option she has now is to travel to Miami for a liver transplant. 

This is where I need your help. I do not want to send my baby to Miami to have this surgery without me by her side. We have no idea how long we will be in Miami waiting on the transplant and I have no support system there. My family all lives in the Tampa Bay area. I have no idea how I am going to make this work on my own. I do not have the means to get there and live on my own. While I’m hoping to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, this is not guaranteed and there will be other expenses such as food and travel to and from the Miami area. 

I know things are hard everywhere for a lot of people right now, but if you can spare even a few dollars so I can be there with my baby during this uncertain and scary chapter in our lives, I would be forever grateful. Anything raised that isn’t used on this trip will be set aside for future medical needs because this is just the beginning for a long road for Neveah and has other health issues that will need to be addressed in the future.
