Hello family and friends. As some of you may know, Christopher and I introduced our sweet Natalia Isabella on Monday, January 23rd. We took her home with us Tuesday night and were extremely excited to finally be able to settle in the 4 of us as a family. Between Wednesday and Thursday we started to notice odd signs with Natalia’s breathing and feedings. Her breathing began to become very labored and we would also notice she would turn blueish/purple around her mouth, lips, and face during and after her feedings. We decided to take Natalia to Texas Children’s ER Friday morning at 2 am when we saw she would take 3 slow breaths, pause for 10 seconds, and continue to take a deep breath. She would then repeat this with her breathing in her sleep. When we arrived to Texas Children’s ER she was put on monitors to track her O2 and other vital signs. We fed Natalia while we were in the ER and her O2 once again began to steadily decline from the 90’s to the 60’s, proving that she was struggling to breath on her own. She was immediately admitted to the NICU and they began to run an extensive amount of tests, she was given oxygen, a cpap, and fluids. We will be staying in the NICU at Texas Children’s Hospital for a few weeks. We have not been given a timeline of how long but we will be giving updates as we are updated. As of right now the only result we have from all of the tests that have been done is Sleep Apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition in which your breathing stops and restarts many times while you sleep. This can prevent your body from getting enough oxygen and eventually affect your major organs. There are still many tests to be done to rule out what can’t be seen, etc and Natalia has been staying so strong and fighting this battle that has been put in our path. We are extremely blessed with a huge support system of family and friends and we want to give a huge thank you to everyone for the continuous prayers and support you have given us with Natalia’s hospitalization. As any parent, we did not anticipate for something like this to happen and this is a very heartbreaking event for us. With me being a full time stay at home mom, Christopher being the sole provider of our home, and work slowing down, we were not expecting the miscellaneous expenses that come with prolonged hospital stays such as gas, food, and of course our monthly bills that we will be working to stay on top of while still being present with Natalia in the hospital and Sophia at home. We would greatly appreciate any donations toward these unexpected expenses, and thank you all for your continued support as we continue to look for answers for our Natalia.
