Hey Everyone, we’re Nick and Hannah Mayer and we’re asking for some support to grow our family through IVF.
Our love story is my favorite. It’s one filled with grace, redemption and healing. We got married almost two years ago but knew early on in dating that we wanted children of our own. I have a little girl that Nick held as his own from the moment they met. Watching them together the last 3 years has been so beautiful.
I’ve struggled with endometriosis for years, having surgeries to remove the scar tissue to alleviate the pain. Last November I had that same surgery and they removed all the scar tissue. Over the past year of trying to conceive naturally, the pain gradually started to come back again. We’ve been really blessed with an OBGYN who encouraged us to have further testing done and unfortunately not only has the endometriosis come back, but it has consumed both of my fallopian tubes and surgery is no longer an option. IVF is the only option.
Infertility is a word we never thought we’d hear. How could this happen to us? We felt truly blindsided. From the beginning of our relationship, our faith is something we wanted to be the foundation of all our decisions. Our desire is that in joy or pain, we always have a posture of worship. So no matter the outcome, God is still good and He is faithful.
Asking for help is not easy. The cost feels too big, impossible at times; but we are here trying to push past our pride and fight for a family we want more than anything. Any support given will go towards IVF egg retrieval/transfer, anesthesia during procedures, medical injections, genetic testing of embryos and to partially cover the cost of another transfer if this first one fails. In the event we have healthy eggs left over, we will be donating them to another family in need. The cost is all due up front and the goal is to start at the end of May.
