Update - June 12, 2025
Mayari is now 45 days old. She is currently on high-flo 10 and working on her respiratory. She is almost 6 pounds. Mayari and mama still have a long way to go due to her chronic lung disease and her heart arteries being narrow. She is doing well and is steadily gaining weight and getting longer.
An update on baby Mayari's condition. She is required to go through PDA ligation. It is a procedures that requires surgery. It is to close a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus, which normally closes after birth, but stays open in a condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), causing excess blood flow to the lungs. If her left pulmonary artery is too small, she will also require surgery for that. This will result in her having to stay in the hospital longer.

Hi, my name is Dianne and I am fundraising for baby Mayari. She is in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and has a long journey to good health. Mayari lives 137KM (85 miles) away from home and her mommy Rachelle has to stay close to her. She is on the waiting list to stay in Ronald McDonald housing.
We are fundraising for Rachelle and Mayari's hospital costs (including parking, medication) and Ronald McDonald housing costs and food. Rachelle had to quit her full-time job because her doctor advised mandatory bed rest. She does not have benefits due to not being able to continue working.
Mayari was born pre-mature at 23 weeks and 4 days gestation. She has a club foot. Mayari was born on February 12, 2025 at 2:47PM weighing 555 grams. Rachelle is Mayari's mommy and she knew it could potentially be a challenging pregnancy due to a short cervix and her age of 39.
Rachelle had a rescue cerclage at 17 weeks and at 22 weeks she was transferred to the hospital for preterm premature ruptured of membrane (PPRM). Ultimately making her water break. Her contractions started the morning of February 12th and the cerclage stitch was taken out. Due to Mayari's condition and the fear of her getting an infection, it was decided it would be safer for her to be delivered and given full resuscitation. Mayari was only 5.5 months old when she was born.
Rachelle and Mayari's journey is heartbreaking and challenging. We hope to raise enough to help them both and reduce their anxiety and stress. We thank you for your generousity and empathy.
