Baby Matt's Surgery Successful!
The surgery was conducted this morning and afterwards, the surgeon said it was successful. Please pray for Baby Matt's continued recovery, and no complications. Thanks again for your generous donations to make this happen.
Surgery Delayed!! Please Pray!!
Baby Matthew awoke this morning with a fever indicating a possible infection. The doctors are not willing to proceed until this situation clears up. I'll update further when we know more. Thanks for your prayers!
SURGERY HAPPENING NOW -- January 6, 8AM in Davao City. We are so encouraged that the surgery is now about to happen. At this writing, in 12 hours the surgery should be over. Thanks so much for your generosity and your prayers. They are much appreciated. There are still some financial needs remaining so if you intended to give but didn't yet, there is still time. Thanks in advance. Please be in prayer for Matthew, the surgeons involved, and his parents.
Updated Information follows:
Baby Matthew Marfil is the son of long-time Filipino friends from Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Their son was born with down syndrom and with two serious heart issues. One of those healed on it's own but the last one is very life threatening without the PDA surgery. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a condition wherein the ductus arteriosus fails to close after birth. The surgery would correct this condition. The cost of the surgery has been reduced to 150,000 pesos plus other costs associated reducing the amount needed to $3,200. After a recent check up by his surgeon here in Davao City where the surgery will take place, Matthew and his parents returned to Malaybalay. A few days ago, Matthew was admitted to Bethel Baptist Hospital with pneumonia. The surgery would be too risky if attempted before he is completely recovered from this set back. So they have set the schedule for a January surgery. It brings such joy to our hearts to see how God is raising up the funds needed so that Matthew will be able to develop to his full potential without debilitating heart issues threatening to curtail his young life. We and the Marfil Family are so grateful for those who have already contributed towards Matthew's surgery cost or have begun to regularly pray for him. Whatever you can give will be so appreciated!
