Baby Matthew's Journey

UPDATE:

Matthew is now 3 months old and we are all hanging in there! He is now drinking some out of a bottle with a little bit of struggle keeping it down. His stats are dropping slowly so they pushed his 2nd open heart surgery a little sooner. He will be having 3 procedures done in the next month and a half. We appreciate all prayers and donations! :)

Hi! We are Shay and Jenna. Our son Matthew was born on July 29, 2023 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Sydrome. A crappy congenital Heart disease requiring at least 3 open heart surgeries. When we found out about his diagnosis we only had a couple months to pack our house in FL into a storage unit and move to NC to have his procedures at Duke hospital. He made it through his first surgery at 4 days old! The average hospital stay after the first surgery is 55 days(fingers crossed for less). The next one will be at about 5 or 6 months old Still a long roller coaster of a road ahead. We will be staying in a long term air bnb through at least the recovery of the second surgery. Hoping to raise some money to help with medical and out of state living expenses as we will have to be up here for about a year or so. I was hoping to be able work more but most of our time is spent at the hospital for now. Anything at all helps! thank you so much!
